Trekking in Sardinia

Best trekking to do in Sardinia

Trekking in Sardinia is one of the most popular activities

Trekking in Sardinia is one of the most popular activities during the holidays on our wonderful island. There are many different possibilities to do trekking in Sardinia. You can do it walking, cycling or also on a horseback or pony. We think, that on foot or on a horseback are the most natural ways to explore the wild nature of Sardinia. Obviously you can explore more places if you walk, as you can reach the sites where you can not arrive on a cycle or on a horse, for example cliffs over the sea.

The wild nature, untouched beaches, extinct volcanos and spectacular rocks formed by the wind in Sardinia are absolutely to explore during your holiday. There are diffrent tour operators, which offer you an infinity of tours on the whole island. During these tours you can enjoy the nature of this unique island with all its coves and rocks and the mediterranean plants. We recommend you to do some trips in the north of Sardinia to explore the rocky part of the island.

Discover the mountains of Sardinia as well, where you can find caracteristic small villages like Aggius and Luogosanto, which offer you to get in touch with an old culture full of traditions. For example Monte Limbara near Tempio Pausania is a wonderful trekking destination. This area offers you small lakes, waterfalls and Nuraghes. If you go on a tour during the winter it is likely that you find some snow there. At 1359 m is the highest point of this mountain. During the trekking we recommend you to try some typical plates of Sardinia in one of the villages. The dishes there are done in a traditional way for sure. Enjoy the fantastic view from above over the Mediterranean sea.

Also a wonderful trip to do is to the famous Grotte di Nettuno (caves) in Alghero or Cala Conone in Ogliastra region where you can see how the water shaped the rocks during thousands of years. Near these places you find also many beautiful beaches like Cala Luna, Cala Sisine and others.

To do all these trips we recommend you to stay in one of the houses or villas in the north of the island, which is a perfect point to start numerous unforgettable trips. For example Costa Paradiso with its unique red rocks is a perfect for those who like mountains and rocks, or  Lu Impostu for those who prefer flat landscape and long beaches. Near Lu Impostu you can also start a boat trip to the Island of Tavolara.  Santa Teresa di Gallura is also an excellent point for trekking with its famous Valle della Luna.

There are some villas we can particularly recommend like Il Faro di Cyrano: privacy, breathtaking view, Villa Corallo: set in a dominant position and Villa Violetta 1: with perfect pool for kids.
